Boys Will Be Boys
‘Boys will be boys’
And, oh, it's so true!
So I'll tell you, my boys,
What that means for you:
It means having patience
And holding the door
For those behind you
When leaving the store;
Pleases and thank-yous
And don't start to eat
Until the host and all others
Have taken their seat.
It means if someone slower
Is walking in front of you,
Don't rush past -
Slow your pace, too.
It shows respect.
It's the kind thing to do.
It’s patience and self-control
Not to push through.
You know what they say-
'Boys will be boys'
It means we share Legos
And all of our toys.
We know how to take turns
And return what we borrow,
Respect people's things
Every day, every morrow.
It means we help out
With keeping things neat.
And with schoolwork and games,
We know not to cheat
It means we are kind.
We make peace with our brother.
We show goodness and gentleness
And love to one another.
Offer a hand up
When you see someone take a fall.
Treat others as precious;
Remember God made us all.
‘Boys will be boys’
So wherever we go,
We respect others' bodies,
We respect the word 'no'.
We listen to body language and words;
We know these are ways
People need to be heard.
We don't gossip about others,
It really isn't kind.
There are healthy, uplifting ways
To better spend our time.
Be a good sport
And when you win, be humble.
Be a good friend,
Don't cause others to stumble.
Be strong and respectful,
Patient, gentle, true;
Do unto others
As you'd have them do unto you.
Nobody is perfect
No matter how hard we try
But there are special guidelines
We strive to live by.
‘Boys will be boys’
I know it's been said
Just remember, one day --
You'll be men instead.
